Harriet Tubman was the bravest woman in American history.

She was very determined to escape. At the age of 24 she got

married to a free black man. Five years later, at the age of 29

she made a daring escape to the North. At the age of 30 she began

to set members of her family free in an underground railroad

which was a metaphor for their escape route.
